King Puff Cup Closure

You may have noticed KPC hasn't been operating to the same standards of quality we set for ourselves years ago.

This has been due to some internal problems, mainly regarding the interest and activity within our team. As an organization in its third year, we were evolving rapidly. Some of our most dedicated members found new opportunities as a result of KPC, while others had college or work schedule changes take priority. Life happens. We simply didn't have the manpower support to keep doing tournaments regularly.  Of course, we already had a prior commitment to our community. Unfortunately, maintaining the tournament schedule while maintaining a sufficient level of quality for our expectations has proven impossible.

KPC is closing. The season will be cut short and no more tournaments will be held by KPC. Any KPC related material leftover will be backed up and some will be repurposed.

Huge thank you to everyone who was part of our community. We couldn't have done it without you!

KPC Update - KPC 36 rescheduled, PPC canceled

Hello Masters! We have some updates regarding King Puff Cup.

KPC 36 rescheduled

As you may already know, KPC 36 was supposed to happen on 17th of August, however, due to some technical issues on our side, the tournament was canceled in the last moment.
We are sorry for the inconvenience, and we fixed the problems we encountered.
We now confirm that the tournament will be rescheduled for the 31st of August. Everyone who previously signed up for KPC 36 will have to sign up again if they still want to compete. An announcement with full details and instructions for signing up will follow up soon.

PPC canceled

Prince Puff Cup was a special kind of tournament with fun rules and in-game rewards. It was a passion project organized by some of the KPC staff who simply volunteered to do it.
Due to this, we have to announce a cancellation, as there is no longer enough staff volunteering in order to organize it.
We can't say for certain whether or not we will bring back this kind of tournament, but we certainly can't do it at the current moment.

Note: anyone interested in spearheading a resurrection of PPC, give a private message to FFA#4526 (our head admin) on discord.

The King Puff Cup Sketch

Blog?

Starting off with today, King Puff Cup will have its own blog, right here. This will be used to announce all sorts of news: from rule changes, to new events, to tournament announcements - instead of doing a separate announcement for every other platform, we'll just post links that direct you here where you can find all the details.
You will also be able to find these blog posts on http://minionmastersthegame.com/esports/
That being said, we actually have some important news today! So let's get right into them, shall we?

King Puff Cup - Season 5

The fifth season of King Puff Cup is on the horizon, if you haven't seen the announcements yet, here are the upcoming KPC tournaments.

  • KPC 34 - July 6th.
  • KPC 35 - July 27th.
  • KPC 36 - August 17th.
  • KPC 37 - September 7th.
  • KPC 38 - September 28th.
  • KPC 39 - October 19th.
  • KPC 40 - November 9th.

Also, with season 5, we've tried to figure out something that improves the diversity of decks, without simply blocking people from using certain cards, due to the fact that people might need to play their powerful strategies if they are competing for the prizes. Therefore, we are going to try and experiment with different formats, we haven't come up to a final idea yet, but you can expect a different experience when it comes to the tournaments of this season.

Talking about different experiences, here's something that will help us experiment with the formats..

Prince Puff Cup

Some of you who were paying attention to our discord might've noticed that we ran two off-season tournaments. These tournaments were called "Prince Puff Cup", but this name never got a proper official introduction, so what is it really?

The Prince Puff Cup is a tournament circuit that's made around In-Game prizes, with more fun and casual formats for players to enjoy. It's completely separate from the King Puff Cup tournament circuit, but it's still organized by us. As said, these tournaments will have different, unique formats meant to be fun, but they may also be meant to be tested for KPC, oh, and we will definitely have some 2v2 tournaments!

  • PPC 3 - July 13th.
  • PPC 4 - August 3rd.
  • PPC 5 - August 24th.
  • PPC 6 - September 14th
  • PPC 7 - October 5th
  • PPC 8 - October 26th

Free Masters!

Well not literally... but in case you were afraid of joining tournaments until now because you didn't own enough masters, we have you covered! From now on, the amount of Free Rotation Masters during the weekends of our events will be increased from 2 to 4, thank you BetaDwarf!
When tournaments will be announced, we will make sure to announce which masters will be free during said tournament, so you can create and submit a full set of 4 decks even if you don't own any master!

Bot Registering

From now on, all KPC Tournaments will have somewhat of an "easier" registration process.
Our Bot Developer, Thighlander, has created a tool that will help you during the sign-up process. All participants will register using the Bot first. It will let you know if you have any invalid decks (containing Wildcards or duplicate Masters, etc ). After making sure your decks are correct, you will then proceed to fill the Toornament registration form!
More details about the "where" and "how" will be released in a different announcement before the next KPC.

Reddit AMA

Meanwhile, we've set up an "Ask me anything" on reddit - right here -  any confusion about what we've talked about? any curiosity about us or King Puff Cup as a whole? Ask anything, and we'll try to answer as many questions as we can.

3. Tournament Sign Up

Required Information

  • Discord Contact Information (username#1234)
  • 4 Complete Decklists (Master + 10 Unique Cards)
  • Additional List of 10 cards.

Where to Sign Up

All participants should register in Toornament.

Check-In

An hour before the event (13:00 UTC), players will have to Check-In to confirm attendance to the event. This should be done by clicking the same button that was previously for Registering to the tournament.
Failing to Check-In will result in being unable to participate in the event.

4. Format & Rules

Tournament Format

The event will consist of a Double-Elimination Bracket. This means that participants have to lose twice before being eliminated from the tournament.
All sets will be played in a Best of 3 format, with exception of the Tournament Finals, where we will have a Best of 5.
The tournament’s format is Last Master Standing. In this format, a player that wins is forced to play the same deck until it loses. A deck that lost a match is eliminated from play during the current round, and can be played again in future rounds, unless it’s banned.

No Wildcards & Duplicate Masters

Wildcards have been banned from all King Puff Cup related events. You may not bring two or three copies of the same card, meaning that all cards should be unique.
Your decks can’t share the same Master.

Sideboard

Participants are allowed to change any of the cards in the decks they will be playing next, only in-between games. They can only replace the cards on their decks with any of the cards from the list of 10 cards they had submitted on the registration process.

Tournament Banned Cards

  • Fire Imp
  • Divine Warrior
  • Scrat Tank
  • Haunting Hugger

Banning Order

In Best of 3 the order is as follows:
First, High Seed bans 1 Master
Next, Low seed bans 2 Masters
Finally, High Seed bans 1 Master

In Best of 5, participants will only ban 1 Master
In this stage, bans will be done privately with the Tournament Admin through Direct Messages, who will then say the bans once they are both done.

5. Additional Rules

You must join the King Puff Cup Discord to participate in King Puff Cup-related events.

Finding Your Opponent

All participants should send a private message to their opponents, and send an invite to a private friendly duel, to then begin the match.

Reporting Your Results

All match results should be reported to the Toornament page directly. This is done by clicking the “My Matches” tab, go to the game you just played and now click the “Report” tab.

Knowledge Check

All new participants should contact the Tournament Admin for a Knowledge Check after registering (Julaiwnl#9260).

Forfeiting

If a player opts to forfeit a match for any reason during the tournament, then they also forfeit their remaining matches, as well as any potential prizes associated with that position.

Spectator Invites

Any players being broadcasted live should send spectator invites to the #Live channel of the KPC Discord. To be able to send Spectator invites, players must be set as “Online” on Discord, as well as having their Game Activity being displayed on their profile, which can be done at Discord Settings, and then going into “Game Activity” to make sure that the option “Display currently running game as a status message” is ON.

Delay of Game / AFK Rule

Once a player’s set begins, they have 3 minutes between games to start their next game. Any extra delay may be subjected to penalties including: a game/match forfeit, disqualification from the tournament, and inability to participate in future King Puff Cup related tournaments. This will be up to the discretion of the highest ranking staff member present.

Disconnects

A disconnect is defined as anything that causes a game to end prematurely. The first disconnect will be replayed unless the result of the game is extremely apparent. After a second disconnect without proof of the opponent disconnecting as well, the disconnected player forfeits the current game.

Usage of Illegal Decks / Masters

If a player starts a game with an illegal deck, they have until the 30-second mark to quit out of a match and fix this mistake, otherwise, the game results in a loss for the player using the illegal deck. A deck is defined as the collection of 10 cards submitted.

If a player starts a game with an illegal master, then the game will be restarted with the opposing player choosing their master for them.

Cheating

We take all kinds of cheating very seriously. If you get caught cheating, you automatically lose and we reserve the right to ban you indefinitely from all King Puff Cup-related events. So please play fair and read the rules carefully. Entering a tournament under two separate accounts (Person A joining as Person A and Person B) is considered cheating and may result in a permanent ban from all tournaments. The following is also considered cheating: changing Master in a retry (after a disconnect, for example), intentionally delaying the tournament, intentionally losing games, etc. are all considered forms of cheating.

6. Prizes

Participant Prize: Dwarf Pack

8th - 4th Place: Big Dwarf Pack.

3rd Place: 2 Big Dwarf Packs.

2nd Place: Mega Dwarf Pack & a Legendary Card

1st Place: Super Mega Dwarf Pack + Dynasty Milloween
