Minion Masters Friday

Minion Masters!

Slithery (Colour) Schemes

Coming in Version 1.4 is a set of visual redesigns for the Slither faction. We wanted to craft a unique identity for the units to help set them apart from other factions such as the Empyreans by ensuring a similar color scheme and unique identifiers so that they are easier to recognise in a match. To that end, we've gone for a more Teal-based color scheme with feathers to help with the visual flair the units provide. We also wanted to help cement the Slither faction's roots in Aztec and Egyptian culture/mythology - Upcoming cards in the brand new Sand Wars Battle Pass will further indicate and explain the culture of the Slither.

Minion Masters in the Top 5 releases for May

We're a bit late to the draw, but Minion Masters was in the Top 5 games with highest playercounts during our launch in May! Steam's post here details that the support of our awesome community pushed our Peak player count above and beyond the norm. And with the content-packed update that is Version 1.4 swiftly approaching, we can't wait to see if we can smash that record again!

Deckbuilding from anywhere

The community Deckbuilding website, MM Deckbuilder recently updated to have all cards and masters up to Version 1.3! You can create decks of any kind as if you owned a full collection, with useful stat calculations such as the amount of Shards required to craft the deck, or how many of your units can hit Flying units. Once you're done crafting your perfect deck, you can share it with everyone else as well as your insights on how to play it, and have users vote on the quality of your decklist. High rated decks get pushed to the front page!

It's a fantastic site made by u/TheConcepteur on Reddit, and we highly encourage you to check it out here!

We're starting up a new Fanart Contest for our wonderfully talented community! The rule for this contest, as you can likely deduce, is comics - All submissions must be in the format of a comic strip or page! The contents are entirely up to you, as long as it's Minion Masters related, and can cover any genre you'd like from humor to envisioning a cool battle scene you thought up of! Here's how to enter:

  2. Entries must be in the format of a Comic with a minimum of 2 panels.
  3. Head on over to our Official Discord at http://discord.gg/minionmasters and post your entry in the #comic-contest channel.
  4. Once the Contest ends on the 14th of August, a community vote will be held between 3 entries selected by the BetaDwarf Staff. The Winner will receive codes worth 5,000 Rubies, while second and third place will win 1,000 Rubies each.

As always, all entries need to be original artworks! You can use any medium you like - Sketches, digital, 3D, but they need to be your own work to be eligible for the contest.

The contest runs from the 22nd of July to the 14th of August, 0900 UTC. Good luck, Masters!

Minion Masters Friday

Minion Masters!

Version 1.4 is now in our Dwarven sights, and we've got a lot lined up in terms of upcoming content. There'll be a new Battle Pass, changes to the Ranking system, and more - So stay tuned to our Blog Posts for more information!

Season Roll-over Schedule

Starting with Version 1.4, we're aiming to align the dates of new Rank Seasons with our updates. The main reasons we're doing this is to ensure that ranking seasons are played on the same Balance patch, as well as minimizing the downtime we require on a monthly basis (Currently, Rank Seasons at the start of a new month require the servers to be down while the database updates).

But wait, this leaves us with a two week gap between the already planned new season starting at the end of this month (Which has a countdown in the in-game news), doesn't it? That's why there will be a special two-week Rank Season lasting from August 1st until Version 1.4's release on the 16th. We're excited to see what happens with a shorter season, and remember, that means you can gather extra rewards if you're quick to rank up! This isn't the only change we have planned for the ranking system, though - Stay tuned for more news!

Fanart Comic Contest Coming Soon!

We're happy to announce we're launching another Fanart Contest on Monday the 22nd of August! The theme for this contest will be to create Minion Masters-focused Comic Strips. At the conclusion of the submission period three entries will be selected by members of the BetaDwarf team to be entered into a public vote, where you will decide which of the top three will take home the first place prize. As before, the top prize will be 5000 Rubies with two runner-up prizes of 1000 Rubies. The full announcement of the contest will be on Monday - We look forward to seeing our community's excellent creative talents again!

Sand Wars

We're also launching our new Update site today for our upcoming Battle Pass, Sand Wars! The Slither and Scrat factions are warring and will be bringing a host of exciting new cards to Minion Masters, with new mechanics and designs not seen before! The Update Site will be launching alongside this blog post and can be found right here. Stay tuned for reveals of new cards and more!

Version 1.3

Minion Masters!

This patch we’re bringing some frequently requested features to the game by means of a streamlined Bug Reporter and 2v2 Report option as well as a tonne of balance changes to shake things up in the meta.

Please note that for the time being Xbox will not have the Bug Report feature. The Unity feature we use for reporting does not currently support Xbox, but we’ll be investigating how to make it work for Xbox in the future.

Also note that the In-Game timer for the next Battle Pass has increased. We’re doing this to align the Battle Pass release with something as yet unannounced.
We’ve added another weekly quest for you during this time, so you can get even further in the Battle Pass and claim those rewards!

With all that away - Let’s dive right in!

Tri-Team Tourney

The Tri-Team Tourney has returned! Collect 15 keys for the house of your choice and vote for which card you’d like to see in the game next! You can only vote for one house, so choose wisely, and earn yourself a Random Legendary Card!

  • House Valor - Stormbringer, Volco, Ratbo - Ghost Storm
  • House Triumph - Apep, Morellia, Mordar - Mal’Shar
  • House Glory - Milloween, Ravager, King Puff - Taurus

The event will last until the release of Version 1.4 - Good luck!

Bug Reporter

Help us help Minion Masters without even closing the game! With the new Bug Reporter tool found in the Settings Menu, you’ll be able to attach a screenshot of the game, add Replays and Crash reports, and give detailed descriptions on the issues encountered. Thanks in advance for our awesome community’s commitment to helping us catch bugs!

2v2 Report

Also coming in this update is the ability to report your teammates at the Results screen for Leaving matches or Griefing. Simply click the Report button and choose between the options provided (You won’t be able to report someone for leaving unless they disconnected from the game) and your replay will be submitted to us for future review. Note that no action will be taken against players before the replays are viewed by a dwarf, and simply being bad at the game doesn’t count as Griefing ;)

Minion Masters Friday

Minion Masters!

Version 1.3 is just around the corner meaning there's plenty for us to talk about. We've been busy working on an assortment of balance adjustments, new features and more, so let's waste no time and get right into it:

Balance Bonanza

Version 1.3 is going to have a whopping total of 22 cards/masters being adjusted. We've been working close with our PTR group to come up with a set of balance changes to shake up the meta, and just a few have been handpicked out to reveal today. We'll have more news on the rest of the adjustments soon, but for the time being here's what we've got to display:

  • Morellia
    • Range 12 > 10
    • Perk 2 Spirit Count 3 > 2
    • Queen's Dragon (perk 3) Mana Cost 6 > 8
  • Morellia turned out to offer too much value in specific areas, particularly through her Spirits and ease of getting her Nyrvir through Perk 3 onto the field. These changes also come hand-in-hand with an adjustment to the Spirit mechanic detailed below;
  • Spirit (Mechanic)
    • Flying Minions only receive 100 Health from Spirit
  • The intended design with most flying minions is for their highly destructive capabilities to be weighed in with their limited survivability. With the release of Morellia in particular we saw flying minions being pushed beyond their limits with the amount of health they received from the reworked buff, making them feel insurmountable to play against and requiring the most expensive forms of removal to get rid of them.
  • Empowered Soul Stealer
    • No longer has Marksmanship
    • Starts with 2 souls
    • Gains 2 extra souls if a friendly minion has Rage
  • On a similar note to the Spirit change, Marksmanship not only made Empowered Soul Stealer a much safer card to play but much more powerful offensively as well due to its natural advantage against all but the highest range minions in a direct encounter. Combined with a kickstart on the amount of souls the card had, it felt less like a glass cannon that needed protection and more of a one-man army that could effectively deal with any threat.
  • Rock Rivals
    • Enemy Living Statue no longer has Rage
  • Rock Rivals had two distinct issues to it: In 1v1, the enemy Living Statue was simply far too powerful to be realistically dealt with on your own after you committed a 6 Mana card that didn't come close to matching its power level. In 2v2, Rock Rivals was at the forefront of a notorious cheese strategy where you would cast Hypnotise on the enemy Living Statue for an unstoppable sudden offense that couldn't be dealt with without specific cards in your deck. Removing the Rage should hopefully go a long way to resolving both of these issues.
  • Apep
    • Perk 1 and 3 can now only select Minions
  • Apep, while previously a strong and popular master due to his free value, has become less relevant over time due to the inconsistency in his perk, which in turn became a large cause of frustration. Some of his best and worst options from his first perk were Spell cards such as Black Hole and Mana Puff Madness to name a few. This change should make his perks feel much more consistent, and as a whole better to use.
These are just 5 of the changes coming in Version 1.3. To learn about the rest, you'll have to tune in to...
